(Yami) Marik - Notable Mentions

You can't mention Battle City without mentioning Marik Ishtar. He has a tragic history and you would be sympathetic for that. However, he serves as a villainous antagonist for Yugi and his friends and he holds one of the God cards which rivals our main protagonist(s). I think he found some redemption at the end of that season so it was not all bad. Unlike Bakura, he is overrated just like any first boss to defeat I suppose. He also deserves to be noted on this blog as he brought the story to interesting developments such as setting the stage of Shadow Games (with Rare Hunters), or would tie in ancient Egypt and the origins of the Millennium items relating back to (Yami) Yugi.

(Yami) Bakura - Notable Mentions

As far back as I can remember, Bakura was an opponent noteworthy at the beginning season of Duel Monsters and then he disappeared for a few seasons while popping up occasionally; later to have a comeback duel nearing the last season. This could be related to his backstory and to help his ulterior motive against the protagonists, or to hide that he was the "actual" (super)villain? His deck was based on the occult or (fiend-)zombie type cards, which I would hardly blog about. Here's a link if you are interested: Zombie | Yu-Gi-Oh! Wiki | Fandom
I know he has a fanbase and that this post won't really do him justice but I think he makes an interesting addition to the blog at this point. Feel free to comment what makes Bakura so underrated (IMO) being a part of the hero's group as their adversary.

[Sidenote - I know some of the cards he did not use in the anime but they are there just to follow his card theme I suppose.]
